Thank You DUBAI

I feel that Dubai is many things. It is the city of near perfection, possibilities, and great opportunities. It is the city where nothing is impossible and the achievements are grand. It is also the city of the tallest, biggest and most luxurious things in the world.

I have learned a lot in Dubai, just watching what goes on in the streets. From massive construction projects to an unbelievable infrastructure of roads and bridges, you can learn from everything you see. Even the way that municipality workers do their jobs in the street, day and night, with intricate organization, like bees is something to observe and take note of.

To me, Dubai is like a blessing from God. I learned from everything within this city; from the companies that I worked for, my bosses, my colleagues, the people that I managed, the people that I met, to the wise government of the city, the great system that is applied in every corner and the different people living together from different cultures. It is unbelievable that more than 200 nationalities are living peacefully in one city. It is a testament to how different cultures can mix and communicate to live together in one place.

This visionary city is simply changed my vision and the way I look to my life and to myself, Dubai has made of me a totally different person, Dubai made me a more positive person, I’m so thankful and grateful for this city since day one, I didn’t see all the cities in the world but whenever I see more new cities my love for Dubai is increasing more because I just feel how perfect is this city from all aspects comparing with others, I love this city the most in the world even more than my home city.

Dubai has a kind of magic that is different from other places. When many people visit Dubai for the first time or live in it for a couple of months, you hear them say, “Well it’s a cool city, but so artificial or so and so.” I usually smile and tell them, “Well this city has its own (Super Glue). Once you live in it, then it’s very difficult to live far from it.” You will usually feel that you miss it a lot after you leave for a couple of weeks. Most people don’t recognize its real value until after living there for a couple of years. I feel at home in Dubai. I feel good when I see Dubai’s name anywhere, especially when I’m coming back to it. Once you get back home from being away, you see the perfection with fresh eyes and feel its uniqueness.

What I love about Dubai’s government and authorities is that they listen to any suggestion and study it, then implement it quickly if it has value for the city or its residents. They always look ahead to achieve more and they have no problem being criticized. They look forward to that criticism or feedback to improve and develop more. That’s why this city is No.1 in many things. The police in Dubai are the opposite compared to any other city. They are always trying to help people and support them; they are always loyal to the service of people.

Dubai has achieved prosperity, that of which most of the cities in the world need to learn from. Behind this great achievement, is a great leader Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum. I’m inspired by this great character and his infinite vision. I’m inspired by one of his sayings, “Many [are] just talking, but we are achieving.” I feel that’s the best description for Dubai.

Thank you, Dubai, for everything and I hope that I can find more words to express how grateful I am for this great city. I hope that I can deliver my best to serve this city.

Conspiracy Theory (1997)

By Ahmed Al Kiremli

Movie Story

In this film a man used to work for the CIA as special agent and then got involved in a secret program where he suffered a great deal. The program changed his personality, affecting his memory and his entire way of life. He falls in love with the daughter of one of his targets and decides to protect her after his father’s death. His previous experience in the secret program gave him a lot of knowledge but also causes him to see conspiracy wherever he looks.

Ahmed Al Kiremli Opinion

This is one of my favorite films and is a movie that I can watch over and over and never get bored. I don’t remember how many times I have watched this movie: 5, 10, 20, I stopped counting. This is another one where I just can’t change the channel whenever it’s on TV.
Mel Gibson has done a great job in terms of his acting performance. You can see his character live through him from his eyes, body language, and the expressions on his face as he’s performing crazy moves, laughing, or crying. Julia Roberts also performed very well, especially in the scenes where she is crying. Her chemistry and body language with Mel Gibson was just so perfect and real. Patrick Stewart also delivered an unforgettable performance.
This movie will force you to get emotionally attached. It has exciting action, comedy, and tragedy. The drama and storyline of the movie are powerful because of the script, the great directing, the interesting soundtrack, and the main song.
Mel Gibson keeps repeating in the movie that “love gives you wings.” It’s true, and you see what some people can do with real love in this movie. I think Red Bull took that phrase from the movie and used it in their ads by replacing the word “love” with “Red Bull.” This movie will make you laugh, cry, and feel the love.

Burlesque (2010)

By Ahmed Al Kiremli

Movie Story

A poor girl from a small town, believing she can do better for herself, quits her bartending job and travels to Los Angeles to take her singing and dancing talents to the next level. She starts out at a burlesque (singing and dancing) bar as a cocktail waitress but is given the amazing opportunity to become the lead singer of the performance troupe, eventually saving the bar from a financial meltdown.

Ahmed Al Kiremli Opinion

The movie was far better than I expected. The story was quite interesting, and the performances from Christina Aguilera (Ali) and Stanley Tucci (Sean) were amazing. The songs, music, and dancing were beautiful, and Christina Aguilera’s singing was just fabulous. The romantic touches were very nice, and there were many interesting comedy scenes, especially with Stanley Tucci (Sean). I really enjoyed the movie, and I recommend it for everybody. I don’t usually enjoy musicals, but this one was outstanding.

Why You Should Read Books?

book

Many people ask themselves the following question (Should I Read Books?) The first answer that comes to their mind after this question is (And Why Should I?). Of course this answer became more common after the development of technology which left people thinking: books are boring, I can get the information from TV, I can search the Internet for a quicker answer, I know that from my experience, I’m old enough to know about that, I don’t have time, I’m too lazy to read books that will take me a week, month or year and the most arrogant answer (I Know Everything, I Know Enough or I Know Everything About That So Why Should I Read More)!!!???.

Can You Surprise Yourself?

I remember I was always saying to people, and to myself, that I hate reading because I like to receive the information visually from TV, DVD or other Visual methods. That’s how my thinking was during my entire life. I think I may have been the world’s biggest hater of reading. So why did that strong dislike for reading change?

What’s the First Step to Start Reading?

How did I start to love reading and what is the first step to make that change? The first step happened after I began my education to earn my second degree. The reason was simply because I started reading about what I love to do. I read about what I’m good at which was very different than what I was reading while pursuing my first degree, I disliked the content very much. So the first step to starting to enjoy reading is to READ ABOUT WHAT YOU LOVE or WHAT YOU ARE GOOD AT.

The Big Mistake

Many people open a business without having any idea about it. They make this decision because they think the business that they chose will be successful because they saw other successful business owners. It’s not enough to know only from what you see, you need to know more from reading about that subject or business. By challenging yourself to learn more through reading you can save yourself regret caused by uninformed decisions in the future. The information is around you in the libraries, it usually very cheap but very valuable. Now the internet is providing a cheaper and faster way as well through ebooks.

Why Reading Books?

The next step after starting to read about what you love or what you are good at is to START READING ABOUT WHAT YOU DON’T KNOW ABOUT OR WHAT YOU ARE VERY BAD AT. If you are struggling with anything in your life in terms of business, finance, money, cooking, traveling, self-development, planning, communication or any subject or new challenge, then go and buy a book about that topic. The information is everywhere around you, so take action and go educate yourself about what you don’t know. Learn more about what you are bad at, or any topic or skill that you want to improve.

How To Create Time for Reading?

You don’t need to set aside more than 1 hour per day for reading and educating yourself, but usually the answer is (I don’t have even 1 hour per day). Well you will have time if you know how to plan your day. If you don’t know how to plan your time, then go and buy a book about time management. The easiest solution is if you feel that you don’t have time, even if you are managing your time well, go and buy 3 or 4 books about the subjects that you want to learn about and put them in different places around your environment. You can put them in the car, next to your bed, in the living room, in your handbag or put one e book in your computer, phone or iPad. Then, whenever you feel that you have an extra 5 or 10 minutes, then you have your backup book right next to you to fill that small time more efficiently.

I have done this and now enjoy my time if somebody shows up late for a meeting, or if I have to wait for somebody, or if I have a couple of hours between two meetings. I immediately pull out my backup book and start reading. Usually I keep one book next to my bed, another in the living room, another in the car, another in my Squash bag and another in my computer bag, so my backup books are everywhere.

Reading will positively change your life, business, mindset, skills and so many other things, so take action now and make the change. You are surely in a much better situation and mindset than where I was before I started reading. I will never forget my father said “I’m so impressed and surprised because until a few years ago, you didn’t read any book, not even a story about Micky Mouse) :-).

8MM (1999)

By Ahmed Al Kiremli

Movie Story

A private detective is hired by an old lady from a rich family to investigate the murder of a young girl that she found on a video tape in her husband’s safe after his death. The detective, working hard to solve the puzzle of the tape, gets caught up in the investigation.

My Opinion

Sometimes something in life pushes you beyond your imagination. The truth or your conscience can catch up with you if you get too curious, and that’s exactly what happens to private detective Tom Welles (Nicolas Cage) in this movie. The story was well written, as was the dialog. Nicolas Cage did a good job in terms of performance. Watching the movie, you might feel uncomfortable because the story is a tragedy about murder, and this movie makes you realize how far some people can go. Definitely worth watching.
